Buffalo Hunting Camp

On special occasions, the Texas frontier comes alive at the Buffalo Gap Historic Village with the aid of living history programming. At these times, special history interpreters in period costume populate the premises. You might expect to watch as a blacksmith actually runs our forge or as buffalo hunters demonstrate how to cook buffalo meat over an open campfire. We have also offered special evening programs featuring recreations of famous Americans from the past, such as Davy Crockett, Meriwether Lewis, or Will Rogers. You’ll find these and similar occasions annouced in the special events section of these webpages.
